Geocaching Adventure 6

This was our 6th cache we found, Hideout In The WoodsWe started the adventure at about 11 15, from St. Teresa's parking lot, the lot was full but nonetheless we got ourselves situated and prepared and headed out to north part and found a little trail probably used by the people who travel to find the cache, a few feet in we spot flower pot thing flipped over and a film canister thing under it and that was the cache. The GPS still said we were 40 ft away at the time so kept looking and eventually the the thing pointed us back to where we found the cache, so we wasted quite so time, so we moved on to the next cache in the woods.

Geocaching Adventure 5

This was the last cache of the day for Friday before we got home to watch Smackdown and clean by scratched legs from the previous 2 caches. Luckily Duck Duck Goose involved no wooded area or anything because my leg wounds were killing me, we parked in a local business on the west side of Garfield and walked down to a creek and seen a bunch of little trees isolated, we walked there and within a half a minute we found it and took a Golem, Zubat and team rocket trainer card and we could go back home and be ready for next challenge. The next day we went to look for micro mayhem series 1 and 2, In Hampton park between Ryan and Mound closer to 17 mile rd. We looked hard for both of them but no luck.

Geocaching Adventure 4

This Cache is located in the middle of the woods between Gratiot and Fairchild on 21 mile by parking in the church to the east of the railroads. The description for Haven't You Heard of a Ladder?sounded pretty simple so we decided to give it a try.

From the church parking lot we headed out west towards the train tracks and the forest the GPS was pointing we needed to .2 miles that way. I dont know how many people are familiar with that area but it is all four wheeler tracks and we walked past them, Luckily they weren't driving else we could of been in danger. After awhile we wound up in front of a big pile of logs and I assumed thats what it meant by ladder so I climbed on them and searched but with no luck we followed the GPS coordinates back to where it was pointing, before the logs we did that but did not see anything. The second time I get there and walked around and I look up and see the piece of crap like 30 foot up and there were little tree branches each about 3-4 apart from each other. After trying to convince Jamie to let me go and get it I finally stopped and we walked away, but want to go back but we need to bring some men with us so they can spot me. You can see the cache in the middle of this picturebut the zoom is on so it looks closer.


There was another cache right when we entered the woods past the railroad tracks but had the other one in first. So we came back here and looked for Four Wheeler The GPS kept changing on me and we wound up not finding it, but came back on geocaching.com and on the comments it says the coordinates are changed but does not show it on the top of the page.

Also there was a cache just west of here on Fairchild Fairchild Inn and Resort As I was driving by I seen all houses and I dont want to go to a persons house just to get a cache so we said F that. But why would you want to place a cache on your property are people really that stupid to believe, no one would do anything bad? In todays world I would take a chance like that, not worth it. Hope people follow suit and get some common sense slapped into them and save people like me, from going to your house. Its just a cache hide it somewhere, where people want to get it.

Geocaching Adventure 3

Our 3rd cache of the day was located on Central Industrial Dr. on 23 mile between m-53 and Schoenherr, and it is called Land BridgesThere was a dead end sign and 2 parking lots on the side of it so we went on the right one (good guess) but we did not feel like going through the forest right away, we looked for an opening so we found one and went an extra 300 ft out of the way, the clue use the bridges really makes sense after thinking about it. We took the long way but nonetheless a right way and the total find was 15 minutes, out of car to back in the car. The cache was hidden behind a few pieces of bark on the treeA real easy find once my GPS took me to the spot I spotted it less than a minute.


I am writing this 4 days after because of sooooo much rain but tomorrow friday looks good so we might be out fetching more.

Geocaching Adventure 2

Here is the second cache we found just mere seconds after the first find. St. Teresa's Paper RetrieveWe started this one after Dare you to cross over because church was just getting out and a'lot of kids were running around, So as soon as we started walking over to all the pine trees I immediately started walking over to southern est tree, I did not think it would be there but I wanted to start there and make my way across so I looked down and BOOM there it was, I quickly let everyone know and they came running over. It was a little box that blended well with the tree but was easy noticeable.

The clue for this one was something about where a Christmas present would be... pretty easy to comprehend, But nonetheless this was our 2nd cache and we felt good about finding one quickly and without using my GPS.

Geocaching adventure 1

This is the first of hopefully many Geocaching blogs. Geocaching is when you try to search for hidden objects that other geocachers hide, normally there is stuff in the object like toys and a log book. Visit geocaching.com for the full thing. Well anyways the first time we tried geocaching was sunday May 9th and we accomplished 3 caches. Here is how the first one went down.

We started off with me (Jeff), my girlfriend (Jamie), and friend (Pete). Our first one was "Dare You To Cross OverAs I said this was our first cache and the first time I used a GPS. Pete knew the area pretty well, so when I explained to him that we needed to find a tree that was knocked over and had pellets on the bottom he knew where to take us, There were several trees that were knocked over but none as big as the tree the hider chose. When the tree fell over it knocked down at least 4 other trees (Click here for pic of fallen treeWell after we managed to cross over the tree, I read that it was approx 100 feet away and I was not sure how to use my GPS, so I started walking around and about an hour later I realized my GPS was saying I was a foot away so I told everyone else about it and seconds later Jamie spotted a little pill case hidden in the roots of the tree if you want to see the rest of pictures browse through that album, I don't want to spoil it all for people who have not found it, but looking back at it, the clue gives it all away. It was my first time so I did not take the clue seriously and did not remember it. Around 5 minutes before we found the cache, when I realized the GPS was directing me here, I glanced down at the cache but thought it was a bottle cap, Looking back it, I feel retarded why would anyone put a water bottle under the tree like that? I thought, but it was the first time and learned 2 valuable lessons. 1. Remember clues and 2. Don't hesitate to take a second look at something.

Current status of: MGH

After a busy summer of checking out a few haunted places and a lot of cemeteries we have currently took a break due to the cold Michigan weather, We would normally expect really cold weather this is time of the year, but the temperature has not been as cold but still cold enough that, we would only want to be outside for like 5-10 minutes, and we need more time then that.

Some things we are doing or about to do are: 1/2 year report, Working on a forum so we can get input from people and find more places to explore, Trying to spread the word of MGH, by all kinds of sites and networks (see below for Mypspace, it serves as our home page), and looking for new places to explore.

Some things you like of missed: The forum is running smoothly (just needs members on there, to share info), We have several videos up on youtube, Myspace hit over 1000 photos uploaded from exploring places both day and night and that MGH is looking to expand to an extent.

Expect a new place to be explored soon, we have been dying to get out and could possibly go out for just one night and take pictures just because we wanna be out there so badly.
